Terms & Conditions for Clients
Effective Date: 27/06/2025
Welcome to Pigeonhole Education (“Pigeonhole”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By using our tuition-matching services, you (“Client”, “you”) agree to abide by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before engaging a tutor through our platform.
1. Matching Schemes
Pigeonhole offers two distinct matching schemes for clients to choose from:
1.1 Common Tutor Pool Scheme
Under this scheme:
- Pigeonhole strictly matches you with a suitable tutor based on your criteria.
- A one-time commission equivalent to the first two completed lessons is payable to Pigeonhole.
- After payment of this commission, all future lesson arrangements and payments are to be made directly between you and the tutor.
1.2 Premium Tutor Pool Scheme
Under this scheme:
- Tutors are selected from our Premium pool, offering higher qualifications, experience, or specialisation.
- Pigeonhole collects a commission on each lesson for a stipulated period.
- The commission amount is based on variables including lesson fees, student level, and subject matter.
- All lesson payments during the stipulated period must be made to Pigeonhole. After the period ends, you may choose to continue lessons directly with the tutor.
The applicable scheme and commission structure will be clearly stated in the confirmation provided to you before lessons begin.
2. Payment & Commission
- All payments are to be made promptly as per the arrangement stated in the confirmation.
- Invoices issued by Pigeonhole will detail the breakdown of lesson fees and any applicable commission.
- For the Premium Tutor Pool Scheme, Pigeonhole will disburse the tutor’s share of fees only after receiving full payment from you.
- Late payments beyond 14 days from the invoice due date may incur an administrative surcharge of up to $30 per fortnight.
3. Lesson Cancellations, Reassignments, and Refunds
3.1. Postponement of First Lesson
- If you need to postpone or cancel the first confirmed lesson, you must notify Pigeonhole or the tutor at least 4 hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in a 50% charge of the first lesson fee, split equally between Pigeonhole and the tutor.
3.2. Tutor Reassignment
- If you are dissatisfied with your tutor for any valid reason within the first 4 weeks, you may request a reassignment. You are liable only for lessons conducted up to that point. Pigeonhole will facilitate a suitable replacement, subject to availability.
3.3. Client-Initiated Termination
- If you terminate lessons within the stipulated commission period (for Premium schemes), Pigeonhole’s commission for completed lessons remains payable. No refunds will be issued for lessons already conducted.
4. Tutor Conduct and Liability
- Tutors on our platform are selected based on their self-declared credentials and teaching history.
- While Pigeonhole makes reasonable efforts to verify information provided by tutors, we do not guarantee the authenticity of qualifications.
- Clients may request to review educational certificates prior to confirming tuition.
- Pigeonhole is not liable for any misrepresentation made by a tutor. We will, however, assist in investigations should any fraudulent activity be reported.
5. Client Responsibilities
- You agree to treat all tutors professionally and respectfully.
- You are responsible for maintaining accurate contact and lesson information with Pigeonhole.
- You must not enter into any agreement with a tutor to bypass Pigeonhole’s commission model while the commission period is in effect. Any attempts to do so will be considered a breach of contract and may result in legal action.
6. Limitation of Liability
- Pigeonhole acts solely as a facilitator and intermediary between you and the tutor.
- We do not guarantee improvements in academic performance or compatibility with any particular tutor.
- We are not liable for any damages, losses, or claims arising from the services rendered by the tutor.
- Under no circumstances shall Pigeonhole’s liability exceed the commission fees paid to us for the relevant assignment.
7. Communication Consent
By submitting your contact information via our website or any communication channel, you consent to:
- Being contacted via phone, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, or email regarding your tuition request.
- Receiving administrative updates, payment reminders, and service-related notices.
- Receiving marketing communications related to tuition unless you opt out by writing to [support@pigeonholehometutors.sg].
8. Dispute Resolution
In the event of any dispute arising from tuition services:
- Pigeonhole will mediate between you and the tutor in good faith.
- If unresolved, disputes may be escalated to the Small Claims Tribunal, subject to Singapore jurisdiction.
9. Amendments
Pigeonhole reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
