1. Confidentiality and Use of Information

Pigeonhole will not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

  • to provide the tuition-matching and payment services you have requested;
  • where required to do so by law;
  • to protect the safety and integrity of our users and platform.

All personal information shared with us is treated with the strictest confidentiality and is used solely for the purpose of facilitating tuition arrangements.


2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

a. From Clients:

  • Name and contact information (email, phone number)
  • Tuition preferences (subject, schedule, student level, budget, etc.)
  • Location (e.g., general area or postal code)
  • Additional notes relevant to tuition preferences

b. From Tutors:

  • Full name and contact information
  • Educational qualifications and certifications
  • Teaching experience and specialisations
  • Gender and preferred levels/subjects to teach
  • Uploaded documents (e.g., transcripts, proof of ID or qualification)
  • Payment and banking information (for commission payouts)

3. Disclosure of Information

a. To Tutors:

Once a client submits a request, relevant non-personal information (e.g., tuition subject, general location, budget, frequency) may be shared with shortlisted tutors. A tutor will receive full contact details of the client only upon successful confirmation of a tuition arrangement.

b. To Clients:

Once a tutor has accepted an assignment, the client will be shown the tutor’s relevant teaching information, including:

  • Qualifications
  • Teaching experience
  • Gender
  • Education background

The tutor’s personal contact details (e.g., phone number) will only be released after a lesson is confirmed. Full NRIC or other sensitive ID documents will not be disclosed to clients.


4. System & Technical Data

When you visit our platform, we may collect non-personal technical data including:

  • IP address
  • Browser type
  • Session duration
  • Pages visited
  • Referrer URL

This information is used internally for diagnostics, platform improvements, and security.


5. Verification & Platform Access

Pigeonhole may verify identity through phone numbers, email, or supporting documents to maintain the reliability and security of our tutor pool. By using our services, tutors consent to the internal review of their information, and clients may request limited verification confirmation (e.g. education history) for assurance.

Tutors and clients are encouraged to protect their login details, and to not share their accounts with others. Tutors are especially advised not to disclose their email address or personal identifiers to others to avoid potential misuse.


6. Legal Compliance and Disclosure

Pigeonhole reserves the right to disclose personal information when legally compelled to do so, including:

  • In response to lawful requests by public authorities (e.g. court orders, law enforcement investigations)
  • Where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, users, or platform from fraud, abuse, or illegal activity

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction. While no online system can be 100% secure, we regularly review and update our security protocols to ensure a high level of protection.
